Social Media Mastery - Which Platform Should I Post On? - Episode 1
So here we are, Episode 1.
I’ve always been particularly bad at spelling and writing in general - so doing this feels like a strange concept. But here we are!
And as mentioned in the title, today we’re looking at one of the biggest questions:
Which platform / platforms should you be posting on?
When starting out, most people stick to what they know. For me, that was Instagram. For my parents, it would have been Facebook. And for my grandparents… well, that would have been a fax. :-)
Did it work for me? Yes. But was it the most effective strategy? Not necessarily.
Choosing the Right Platform
The best platform for you depends on:
✔ Your target audience – Where do they spend time?
✔ Your content style – Do you prefer video, written posts, or live content?
Here’s a breakdown of where to post:
📌 Short-Form Video – Instagram (plus Facebook, as they connect with one click), TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and even LinkedIn (which is pushing video more now).
📌 Long-Form Video – YouTube. No question.
📌 Written Content – LinkedIn, X, Threads, Reddit, and of course, Sub stack!
📌 Live Streaming – Twitch, YouTube, Kick, X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Patreon - all have pros and cons, which we’ll cover another day!
If you’re unsure, I recommend starting with short-form video first - it’s the easiest way to build an audience quickly before expanding into long-form content or live streaming.
For me, I started with Instagram (short-form video) and LinkedIn (written content). I learnt so much from doing both at the same time.
Make sure to subscribe, and remember - I would suggest posting on as many platforms as possible to maximise eyes onto you. Oh and also don’t give up. You have totally got this!
